Radiation recall dermatitis: Case report and review of the literature

Abstract


Radiation recall, or radiation recall dermatitis (RRD), has been defined as the “recalling” of previously radiated skin in response to the administration of a certain response-inducing drug. Although it is a relatively well-known phenomenon in the medical world, an exact cause has not been documented. This paper reports a rare occurrence of radiation recall phenomenon in a breast cancer patient following palliative radiotherapy for bone, brain and orbital metastases.
